Storing Your Jewelry...

What is the best option for storing your jewelry?

Jewelry should be kept in a clean and dry place, such as a jewelry box or case that is fabric lined. If you do not have the proper cases you may try using an ordinary box, but make sure you wrap each piece individually in soft cloths or tissue paper.
Usually when you purchase a piece of jewelry, you will be given a special pouch or case that is specifically designed with the right finish to protect that particular piece of jewelry. Some will have soft fabric lining while others will have anti-tarnish properties that help to keep the piece looking new for longer. These pouches are the best thing to store your jewelry in, as they have been designed with that particular piece in mind.

Organizing your jewelry.

It is always a good idea to keep your jewelry box neat, uncluttered, tidy and organized, as this will help and maintain a longer life for your pieces. Nobody likes jumbled, tangled pieces....You will also be able to find the piece of jewelry that you are looking for with ease.
To make it easier to keep your jewelry organized, choose a style of jewelry box that has many small compartments to separate pieces in. This will allow you to keep your jewelry pieces away from each other so that they don’t touch or become tangled.

Storing gold jewelry.

Gold is a malleable metal and can be damaged by other jewelry pieces and hard gemstones. To avoid this from happening, you should keep your gold pieces stored by separately in soft cloth bags or the original box that they came in.

Storing Silver jewelry.

If you have silver jewelry, it should always be kept absolutely dry. Your silver pieces should be stored in a tarnish-proof cloth away from exposure to the air. You can even buy special silver storage boxes that are lined with this type of tarnish-proof fabric so that they will keep your silver jewelry safe. Also, you should never let your silver jewelry touch rubber items such as rubber bands, as the sulphur within the rubber will cause the silver to tarnish.

Storing Diamonds.

Because the diamond is the hardest substance on earth it can scratch your other gemstones such as rubies, emeralds and sapphires, if stored with them. Diamonds can also scratch silver, gold and platinum. So to avoid damage to your other jewelry pieces, you should keep your diamonds jewelry separate in a soft cloth pouch.
